Our Renewable Energy team integrates advanced modeling, testing, and grid analytics to validate and optimize solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the globe.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead modeling, design optimization, and grid interconnection for large-scale solar and energy storage projects. You’ll serve as a technical authority bridging modeling, testing, and field validation—driving innovation in grid-integrated renewable systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, model, and optimize PV and PV-plus-storage systems using tools such as PVsyst, PlantPredict, HOMER, SAM, and Energy Toolbase.
  • Lead performance testing and data validation to IEC 61724, ASTM E2848, and ASTM E2939 standards.
  • Manage interconnection studies and compliance with RTO/ISO requirements (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO).
  • Integrate storage solutions for peak shaving, frequency response, and hybrid plant optimization.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver field-tested, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and promote technical excellence across the renewable team.
  • Occasionally support testing and analysis in conventional power generation (gas turbine, combined cycle).

What You Bring

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (M.S./Ph.D. preferred).
  • 8–10 years in electrical or renewable energy engineering with strong solar/BESS experience.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools (PVsyst, PlantPredict, SAM, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of grid interconnection, system controls, and performance standards.
  • Hands-on analytical capability with Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Extras

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
  • NABCEP or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with MOD-025/026/027/032 verification.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML for predictive modeling or diagnostics.
  • Experience with microgrid design or cloud-based analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Why McHale?
You’ll join a mission-driven engineering firm with a deep technical bench, a collaborative culture, and a track record of advancing energy performance worldwide. We reward initiative, value authenticity, and offer the opportunity to influence real-world energy innovation.
