Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Fabrication to lead aerospace sheet metal fabrication processes, welding setup, and manufacturing process stabilization. The role involves process validation, work transfer, tooling development, and ensuring production readiness aligned with quality standards.

Role Summary

● Learn and absorb aerospace fabrication processes, standards, and best practices from the UK facility, and lead the work transfer and replication of fabrication activities to Sri City, ensuring seamless transition and production readiness.

● Establish, validate, and stabilize sheet-metal forming technologies, including forming, rolling, lancing, and expansion processes.

● Prove out sheet-metal parts, tooling, and routings to achieve first-time-right manufacturing and successful FAI.

● Develop, release, and standardize routing, process sheets, work instructions, and fabrication practices.

● Set up, optimize, and stabilize TIG welding and seam welding processes, including parameters, fixtures, and weld consistency.

● Support NPI activities, FAI approval, and smooth ramp-up of transferred parts into serial production.

● Troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues related to form accuracy, fit-up, distortion, and repeatability, ensuring long-term process stability.

● Ensure full compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.

● Coordinate with UK engineering, Quality, and local production teams for effective knowledge transfer and closure of gaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and stabilize sheet metal fabrication processes (forming, rolling, lancing, expansion)
  • Set up and optimize TIG welding and seam welding processes
  • Lead work transfer and process replication for fabrication activities
  • Develop process sheets, routing, and work instructions
  • Support NPI activities, FAI approval, and production ramp-up
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues for process stability
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100)
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production teams

Required Skills

  • 5–10 years of experience in fabrication / sheet metal manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (TIG, seam welding)
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or precision engineering
  • Exposure to NPI, FAI, and process validation
  • Strong process improvement and troubleshooting skills
