Principal Product Designer

As Principal Product Designer, you will be responsible for establishing and owning Nordis’ design system, defining UX best practices, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience across all products. You will act as the organization’s UX authority, partnering closely with product management and engineering to influence product strategy and execution.

This is a senior individual contributor role with broad impact. You will also provide mentorship and dotted-line oversight to any junior designers (marketing), helping grow design capability and maturity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design Systems & Standards

  • Lead the creation, evolution, and governance of Nordis’ design system, including components, patterns, interaction standards, and accessibility guidelines
  • Establish UX and UI best practices to ensure consistency across products and teams
  • Document design standards, principles, and usage guidelines for long-term scalability
  • Own the end-to-end user experience across Nordis’ product suite, internal systems, and reporting

User Experience Leadership

  • Own the end-to-end user experience across Nordis’ product suite
  • Drive UX strategy for complex, enterprise workflows and role-based applications
  • Ensure usability, clarity, and consistency across all user-facing experiences
  • Advocate for user-centered design in product planning and prioritization

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Managers to shape requirements and solution approaches
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and implemented with high quality
  • Facilitate design reviews, critiques, and alignment sessions across teams

Mentorship & Design Enablement

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designer(s) through dotted-line oversight to ensure cohesive UX / UI across company assets
  • Review work, provide feedback, and support skill development
  • Help establish design processes that improve collaboration and efficiency

Research & Continuous Improvement

  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform UX improvements
  • Continuously assess and improve the overall UX maturity of the organization
  • 8+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or interaction design
  • Proven experience building and maintaining a design system used across multiple products or teams
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating enterprise or B2B SaaS design work
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and information architecture
  • Experience designing complex workflows, data-heavy interfaces, and role-based applications
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
