JOB PURPOSE
The Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for architecting, managing, and optimizing enterprise storage
infrastructure while supporting cloud and OpenShift platforms. This role ensures secure, scalable, and cost-
effective solutions aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
Minimum Experience
At least 10 years of IT experience, preferably within the banking sector, with broad exposure to enterprise
technology platforms.
Professional Qualifications
Professional Certifications: Storage (IBM, EMC, NetApp), Cloud (AWS/Azure), OpenShift/Kubernetes.
ITIL – Foundation course for IT Service Management
Technical Competencies
Administration and Expertise in Storage Technologies: -
Design & Implementation: Architect, configure, and deploy enterprise-grade storage solutions using IBM,
EMC, Pure Storage, NetApp, SAN Directors, and FCIP Routers to meet diverse business needs.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience with IBM SVC, DS8K, FS9K; EMC PowerMax,
PowerStore, Unity, ECS, RecoverPoint; Pure Storage arrays; and NetApp systems.
Optimization & Performance: Administer and fine-tune storage environments for optimal performance,
reliability, and scalability through proactive capacity planning.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex storage issues related to performance, connectivity, and
data integrity.
Maintenance & Upgrades: Execute firmware and software upgrades to ensure stability, security, and
compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with DBA, AIX, Linux, VMware, and OpenShift teams for
seamless infrastructure integration.
Capacity Planning: Lead forecasting initiatives to align infrastructure growth with organizational objectives.
Innovation & Cost Optimization: Stay current with emerging technologies to identify opportunities for
efficiency and cost savings.
Replication Expertise: Skilled in TPC-R (CSM), RecoverPoint, Dell EMC SRDF, PowerStore replication, Pure
Pods, VMware SRM, and vSphere replication.
Data Management: Execute migrations, cloning, FlashCopy, and snapshot management across
heterogeneous platforms.
Data Reduction & Security: Apply advanced techniques such as inline compression, deduplication, and
encryption for efficiency and protection.
Configuration Management: Configure RAID groups, port groups, storage groups, masking views, and host
attachments.

SAN Expertise: Hands-on experience with Brocade X6-8 SAN Directors and FCIP Routers; strong
understanding of Fibre Channel protocols, zoning, RAID levels, and ISL configurations.
Tool Proficiency: Skilled in TPC, Spectrum Control, Solutions Enabler, AppSync, PowerPath, and Unisphere.
Operational Excellence: Manage incidents and service requests within SLAs, ensuring high customer
satisfaction.
Disaster Recovery: Maintain expertise in planning and execution at both application and storage levels.
Project Delivery: Experienced in hardware refresh, data migration, and datacenter relocation with minimal
downtime.
Datacenter Operations: Skilled in hardware installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
Backup & Restoration: Ensure robust data protection and business continuity.
Compliance & Security: Conduct vulnerability assessments and enforce security standards across storage
environments.
Storage Security Specialization: Incident response and mitigation for storage-related breaches,
Implementation of encryption strategies for data-at-rest and data-in-transit, Anomaly detection and
monitoring for suspicious activities, Deployment of ransomware mitigation controls.
Monitoring Expertise: Experience with NNMi, Microfocus, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, SNMP, SMI-S, CIM
protocol, Call-home, SCG, and support services.
Added Value in Administration and Expertise in Public & Private Cloud technologies: -
Install, configure, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters across multiple environments.
Perform deployment, configuration, patching, and security compliance for containerized workloads.
Integrate security components: Next-Gen Firewall, SIEM, Identity & Vault, RBAC, Secret Management.
Proficient in Linux, VMware, networking, scripting, and automation tools for hybrid environments.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices for CI/CD pipelines.
Manage high availability, clustering, registry, configuration, and backup for OpenShift environments.
Knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS and Microsoft Azure.
Database familiarity: PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, Redis.
Develop automation scripts to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Monitor system performance, security, and capacity, ensuring compliance and resilience.
Disaster recovery planning and execution for cloud workloads.
Experience in vulnerability assessments, incident response, and documentation for hybrid infrastructures.
