Print Press Operator

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Press Operator to join our Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our press processes, contributing directly to the quality and efficiency that our clients rely on.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequences.
  • Selects and installs printing plates, rollers, feed guides, gauges, screens, stencils, type, dies, and cylinders in machines according to specifications, using hand tools.
  • Sets and adjusts speed, temperature, ink flow, and positions and pressure tolerances of equipment.
  • Reposition printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality, using knobs, handwheels, or hand tools.
  • Pours or spreads paint, ink, color compounds, and other materials into reservoirs, troughs, hoppers, or color holders of printing units, making measurements and adjustments to control color and viscosity.
  • Loads, positions, and adjusts unprinted materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms.
  • Utilize controls and levers to start and control printing machines.
  • Monitors feeding, printing, and racking processes of presses to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions, adjusting as necessary.
  • Inspects and examines printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects.
  • Performs wash-up of press upon completion of every press run.
  • Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, documents (pull sample sheet, complete blue pressroom approval form, wet density data sheet, Hagen entry, etc.).
  • Follows and complies with all safety, work rules, and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.

Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using computerized systems to record operations.
  • Experience operating, setting up, troubleshooting an 8 Color Sheetfed Press or other similar sheetfed printing press.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
