The 3D Print Quality Engineer will perform technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes that have significant impact on the company. This role will evaluate and optimize part quality performance required by product specifications. Troubleshooting, risk reduction, and system integration are also essential parts of the job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Tune and optimize printing parameters to meet part quality specifications and PRDs. ·
  • Evaluate part quality risks during early product development and report analysis results.
  • Tune and optimize control parameters for basic to medium complex projects (new material & machine) ·
  • Organize and conduct part quality reviews according to required procedure.
  • Utilize other tools such as test rig when needed for initial tuning and printing evaluation. · Support process control as needed for more consistent printing results.
  • Develop good understanding about FDM 3D printing technology and processes.
  • Work with system engineers and design engineers to identify machine & material integration issues and address them for best part quality performance.

Problem solving and process improvement. ·

  • Perform root cause analysis, track, and resolve challenging printing issues. ·
  • Develop new techniques to evaluate and improve part quality performance such as test rig, new algorithms, new process steps, artificial intelligence etc.

Provides high quality documentation and supports compliance and certification

  • Document part quality review results according to ISO procedure. ·
  • Writes technical reports / memos when required for technical approaches and lessons learned. ·
  • Support the required work for compliance and the application of product certifications.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum 2+ or related experience; or an advance degree without experience or equivalent work experience

Minimum Requirments:

  • 2+ years in Engineering experience

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Works in a pleasant office/manufacturing environment with other department staff, utilizing a computer workstation and various software applications. Specific work schedule is coordinated with direct supervisor.
  • Travel requirement: 5%

For this position, the typical annual starting base salary is from $85,000- $95,000 base salary, which does not include variable incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Your individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, geographical location, and/or experiences.
