A Private Duty Nurse (PDN) provides personalized, one-on-one medical care to patients in their homes or private settings, focusing on comfort, safety, and specialized treatment. Key duties include monitoring vital signs, administering medication (IV, oral, injections), managing wound care, coordinating with physicians, and assisting with activities of daily living.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Clinical Care: Assessing patient needs, creating care plans, monitoring vitals, managing ventilators/tracheostomies, and providing chronic illness management.
- Medication Management: Administering and tracking oral, injectable, or IV medication.
- Daily Assistance: Helping with hygiene, mobility, feeding, and wound care.
- Documentation & Coordination: Maintaining accurate records, reporting changes to physicians, and educating family members.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Credentials: Valid Nursing License (Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)).
- Experience: Proven nursing experience, often with specialized skills in areas like pediatrics, geriatrics, or high-acuity care.
- Soft Skills: High levels of compassion, patience, empathy, critical thinking, and communication.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with home medical equipment and electronic health record
