Investment Director - Doha, Qatar
The platform
A Doha based alternative investment platform. This vertical is a six-person investment team spanning education (GCC), infrastructure and secondaries (both global), plus opportunistic deals in other sectors.
The teams strategy combines direct minority equity and co-investments alongside leading global sponsors, with target deployment of c.$1bn per annum across the team.
The portfolio shows both breadth and sponsor quality:
-
Direct:
a GCC K-12 schools portfolio and a global lifestyle hospitality platform.
-
Co-investments:
a global branded consumer business, a US mid-market alternative asset manager, and a premium European education group.
-
Secondaries / continuation vehicles:
core infrastructure including a major UK airport and a global subsea telecoms network.
The role
A senior, mandate-shaping hire to lead the firm's education investing, focused on the GCC and building on an established K-12 schools platform. The Director will own education deals end-to-end while contributing to the team's wider direct and co-investment activity, operating with significant autonomy alongside senior leadership and external sponsors.
Key responsibilities
-
Originate and screen GCC education opportunities, with a focus on K-12 and premium/international schools.
-
Execute deals end-to-end: modelling, valuation, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and documentation.
-
Structure direct minority equity and co-investments alongside global sponsors.
-
Prepare and present investment committee materials.
-
Steward portfolio assets: board engagement, performance monitoring, value creation and exit.
-
Support the team's wider direct, co-investment and secondaries activity across infrastructure and other sectors.
Requirements
-
Director / Principal-level investment experience from a PE firm, infrastructure or real-assets fund, sovereign or institutional investor, or sector-focused education investor.
-
Education-sector experience, ideally schools platforms (K-12 / international / premium); GCC or emerging-markets exposure advantageous.
-
Strong end-to-end execution across direct equity and co-investments, including structuring and negotiation.
-
Excellent commercial judgement, with the ability to lead diligence and present to an IC.
-
Relationships across the education ecosystem (sponsors, operators, advisors) a strong plus.
-
Familiarity with Shari'a-compliant structures beneficial but not essential; English fluency required, Arabic an advantage.
