Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable tutors to join our team. As a tutor, you will provide individualized academic support, create engaging lesson plans, and help students reach their full potential. This role requires excellent subject knowledge, patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Support: Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to help students understand concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for exams.
- Lesson Planning: Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs, focusing on areas requiring additional support.
- Homework Assistance: Guide students through problem-solving, clarify instructions, and review completed assignments for accuracy.
- Subject Expertise: Maintain strong knowledge in the subject area(s) you teach and adapt to curriculum updates and effective teaching strategies.
- Progress Assessment: Evaluate student progress, identify strengths and areas for growth, and share feedback with students and parents/guardians.
- Study Skills Development: Teach study techniques, time management, note-taking, and organization skills to encourage independent learning.
- Confidence Building: Create a supportive environment that fosters self-confidence and encourages students to take academic risks.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with students, parents, and—when appropriate—school teachers to align on goals and progress.
- Adaptability: Adjust teaching methods to fit different learning styles and needs for maximum learning effectiveness.
- Motivation and Engagement: Use creative and engaging teaching tools, including games and technology, to make learning enjoyable and effective.
- Time Management: Manage tutoring sessions efficiently, ensuring all planned topics and assignments are covered.
- Professionalism: Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all interactions with students and families.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in one or more K–12 subject areas (math expertise preferred)
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred but not required
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for helping students succeed
- Ability to work both in-person in Miami-Dade County AND online (as needed)
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
