Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated PRN (as needed) EVS Laundry/Housekeeping team member to support our environmental services department. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within our healthcare facility, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have experience in janitorial or custodial services, with a focus on hospital or healthcare settings preferred. This position offers flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the facility and contributes significantly to patient safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Perform laundry duties, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms.
- Conduct cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, bathrooms, hallways, common areas, and medical equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.
- Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, buffing, or other floor care procedures to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Restock supplies such as paper products, soap dispensers, and other housekeeping essentials.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure a safe environment.
- Properly dispose of waste materials in accordance with hospital policies.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisory staff promptly.
Skills
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to workplace safety and infection control.
- Experience in cleaning, sanitation, environmental services, or janitorial work within healthcare or commercial settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of hospital or healthcare cleaning protocols is a plus.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers or extractors is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on sanitation standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established procedures.
- Good physical stamina for standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and performing repetitive tasks over extended periods.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues efficiently.
