Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile PRN Nurse to join our healthcare team, providing flexible, high-quality patient care across various settings. As a PRN (pro re nata, or as-needed) nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate nursing services tailored to patient needs, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Duties

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
  • Provide specialized care such as IV infusion therapy, wound suturing, catheterization, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures including laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, sonography support, and basic medical imaging preparation.
  • Manage acute pain and chronic condition treatments while coordinating with physicians for treatment plans in emergency room or inpatient settings.
  • Conduct triage assessments for urgent care or outpatient clinics to determine patient priority levels and appropriate interventions.
  • Support patients with complex needs such as those with developmental disabilities, memory care requirements, or behavioral health conditions.
  • Document all patient interactions thoroughly in compliance with medical documentation standards and ICD coding practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies to ensure seamless patient transitions.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and sterile processing procedures to uphold safety standards across all clinical activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in good standing; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
  • Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, ICU/CCU (Critical Care Unit), emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and patient record management.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding practices, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
  • Experience with specialized procedures such as botulinum toxin treatment administration for certain conditions or esthetic laser treatments is a plus.
  • Ability to perform aseptic techniques during invasive procedures like suturing or catheter care; skilled in venipuncture and IV insertion.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to work effectively with children, seniors in geriatrics or memory care units, and individuals with disabilities or complex health needs.
