Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques, adhering to aseptic procedures to ensure safety and sample integrity
- Obtain vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure to assist in patient assessment
- Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and transportation
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed, patient information, and specimen details in compliance with hospital protocols
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns with empathy, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the process
- Follow all laboratory procedures and safety guidelines diligently to uphold quality standards and prevent contamination or errors
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to support overall patient care and laboratory operations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques related to specimen collection and processing
- Proven laboratory experience with a focus on phlebotomy and blood sampling methods
- Excellent patient service skills combined with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices
- Ability to perform venipuncture confidently while maintaining aseptic technique and safety protocols
- Familiarity with hospital environments and experience working within clinical or healthcare settings is preferred
- Effective communication skills to explain procedures clearly and work collaboratively with medical staff
