About the Firm

A rapidly growing boutique firm in Queens is seeking an experienced attorney to join its expanding Trusts & Estates/Elder Law practice. The firm is hands-on, collaborative, and client-focused, with potential plans to open an additional office in Brooklyn. This role offers a strong opportunity for growth for someone who wants to take ownership of files and work directly with clients from day one.


The firm is looking for an attorney who is well-versed in New York probate, elder law, and guardianship matters. The ideal candidate can confidently manage files, navigate court procedures, and work closely with clients facing a wide range of estate and elder-law needs. This is a primarily in-person role to support close collaboration with the team and direct client interaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Handle probate and administration proceedings in New York Surrogate’s Courts.
  • Represent clients in guardianship matters.
  • Advise clients on elder-law planning, Medicaid eligibility, asset protection, and long-term care strategies.
  • Conduct estate planning meetings and draft core estate planning documents.
  • Work directly with clients and families to gather information, manage expectations, and guide them through each stage of their matter.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure smooth case management.
  • Participate in the firm’s growth, including potential expansion into Brooklyn.


Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in New York probate, elder law, and/or guardianship matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of Surrogate’s Court procedures.
  • Ability to independently run files and manage client relationships.
  • Licensed to practice in New York.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Estate planning drafting experience
  • Experience handling both contested and uncontested Surrogate’s Court matters.
  • Interest in contributing to the development of a new Brooklyn office.


Schedule & Work Environment

  • Primarily in-person at the Queens office.
  • Collaborative environment with attorneys and paralegals working closely on active files.
