Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and filing probate petitions, estate inventories, and related legal documents with courts and government agencies.
- Conduct thorough legal research across various practice areas including estate planning, family law, and tribal law to support case development.
- Manage case files using legal case management systems such as PCLaw, iManage, and document management systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Review and organize legal documents, including wills, trusts, contracts, and court filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws such as UCC law and PCLaw standards.
- Coordinate interviews with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather essential information for estate administration.
- Support attorneys with drafting legal documents, proofreading filings, transcription of court proceedings, and preparing reports.
- Maintain organized workflows by managing data entry tasks, filing systems, and calendar deadlines for litigation or probate proceedings.
- Conduct research using Westlaw or LexisNexis on topics like securities law, patent law, workers' compensation law, or environmental law as needed for case support.
- Provide executive administrative support including phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence related to probate cases.
Skills
- Proven experience in paralegal roles within law offices handling estate planning, probate, or litigation cases.
- Strong knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; familiarity with legal administrative experience is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in legal case management software including PCLaw and document management systems like iManage.
- Effective interviewing skills to gather accurate information from clients and witnesses; strong writing skills for drafting legal documents.
- Familiarity with a broad range of practice areas such as family law, tribal law & regulations, landlord-tenant law, securities law, personal injury law, immigration law, patent law, environmental law, and UCC law.
- Ability to perform thorough proofreading and document review; experience with transcription is advantageous.
- Exceptional clerical skills including data entry, filing procedures, phone etiquette, and administrative support tasks necessary for smooth office operations.
