JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Uniformed Field Operation Bureau, the Dispatcher shall be responsible for maintaining continuous two-way radio and/or telephone communication between the Dispatch Center and officers/department personnel to assign requests for response for service with appropriate response codes. Maintains standardized operations of the computer-aided dispatch system (CAD) & the state's SPOTs system while adhering to FCC, NCIC and department rules and regulations. Monitors all street activity via the radio and preforms checks on criminal records, licenses, motor vehicles registration records through SPOTS and NCIC. Enters stolen property and missing or wanted persons into NCIC. Monitors City's traffic channel and preforms other duties assigned. The position is considered essential personnel and has responsibilities 24-hours, 365 days a year This is a full-time position, works a schedule of 4 days on and 2 days off, and is part of the Police Communications Bargaining Unit, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is not to exceed an hourly rate of $25.6019.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 months relevant work experience and high school diploma or certified equivalent is required.

A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Must possess good listening and excellent oral communications skills, data entry skills, and have the ability to react appropriately per department policies and regulations in emergency situations.

Ability to successfully complete oral and written exams is essential.
