POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Control and Automation Technician ensures the proper operation of machinery and automated equipment of the manufacturing facility. This includes but is not limited to manufacturing equipment, motors, electrical and electronic systems, VFD’s, PLC’s, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, forklifts, parts fabrication, and welding. This role can be required at times to support the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, structural systems, and building systems such as HVAC systems, steam and chiller systems, plumbing, appliances, roof, lighting, wall repairs, etc., This position requires the employee to actively identify problems with equipment and/or facility systems, document the issues, and take corrective actions to resolve the problems. This role is also responsible for effectively communicating all pertinent issues to management. The Process Control and Automation Technician performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks as it relates to the production facility to minimize downtime or unplanned repairs. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and equipment repairs with a focus on electrical, instrumentation, process controls and PLC’s.
• Design and implement new process control and automation system.
• Maintain and improve current process controls and instrumentation to meet the needs of current production equipment and upgrades/expansion.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Preventive Actions, Quality Policy, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Safety policies.
• Manufacture, process, pack, or hold clean and safe food as appropriate to the assigned duties.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) duties.
• Collaborate with maintenance management on electronic and instrumentation parts inventories and identification parts to be acquired.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance or production manufacturing environment, including automation and controls maintenance and programming.
• Associate’s degree in industrial Automation/equivalent or relevant certification from a trade school required.
• Ability to follow and understand PLC’s programs, blueprints, operations manuals, electrical diagrams, and manufacturer’s instructions as well as utilize these tools to effectively troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Able to work seating, and possible walking, climbing and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, OSHA requirements, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills are required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have PLC Program suite experience
• Position required to work varying shifts and weekends at times to support project execution requirements.
• Must reside in Palestine, TX Area.
