Process Engineer, St. Clair, Cleveland, OH
Arclin USA, LLC is currently seeking talent for a Process Engineer at our St. Clair, Cleveland, OH location. The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes related to polymer, powder handling, rubber compounding, slab and pellet production, roller mills, and dispersant-based systems. This role focuses on improving process efficiency, product quality, safety, and cost effectiveness while supporting daily operations and long-term process development initiatives.
Process Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes involving powders, rubber compounds, slabs, pellets, roller mills, and dispersant formulations.
- Lead process improvements to increase throughput, reduce scrap and yield losses, and enhance consistency and quality.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to improve process capability and stability.
- Evaluate raw materials, formulations, and processing parameters to ensure optimal Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams to resolve process issues and equipment-related challenges.
- Troubleshoot process deviations related to mixing, milling, pelletizing, slab formation, and dispersant dispersion.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and R&T teams to ensure smooth production and rapid issue resolution.
- Support start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers for manufacturing equipment and process lines.
- Ensure processes meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead or support Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) development related to process upsets, quality deviations, equipment failures, and safety incidents.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
- Support and promote the consistent application of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis participation, and process safety documentation.
- Collaborate on engineering analyses for capital and expense projects, including preliminary and detailed design, equipment selection, vendor evaluation, project cost estimates, and life-cycle cost analysis.
- Identify opportunities for automation, control improvements, and new technologies to improve process performance.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production and process data to drive informed decision-making.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, yield, quality, and downtime.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role within powders, rubber, polymers, chemicals, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of unit operations such as mixing, milling, dispersion, extrusion, pelletizing, and powder handling.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and working in a plant or production environment.
- Working knowledge of process safety, quality systems, and continuous improvement tools.
