PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER

MIRO Industries is hiring a Process Improvement Engineer to work full-time, 8 hours a day, Monday – Friday, in our Heber City, Utah office (this is not a remote position). This is a salary position, depending on experience.

As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for MIRO’s comprehensive benefit package, including health insurance, a health savings account with a generous company match, dental and vision insurances, paid holidays, paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, long-term disability and life insurances, quarterly profit sharing, and a great work culture!

We are seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to lead operational excellence across our manufacturing environment. This role focuses on stabilizing processes, implementing Lean and 5S methodology, and working with our Director of Equipment and Automation to introduce automation where financially justified. The Process Improvement Engineer will ensure that every process is standardized, repeatable, and sustainable—and then drive targeted improvements that deliver measurable results within 90–180 days.

This person will serve as the organization’s primary Lean/5S champion, modeling continuous improvement efforts throughout the company and inspiring others to embrace change.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lean and Continuous Improvement
  • Champion Lean, 5S, and Kaizen events to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys) to identify and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Drive crossfunctional projects to eliminate waste and improve flow of information and product
  • Ensure improvements yield significant results within 90180 days.
  • Process Stabilization and Documentation
  • Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for shop processes.
  • Oversee job boards and production boards to plan work, assign accountability, and track timelines.
  • Support operations with structured preproduction planning.
  • Department and Facility Projects
  • Collaborate with operations on departmentspecific projects (e.g., new tables for assembly, shop layout in fabrication, etc.).
  • Lead initiatives to optimize shop layout, workflow, and equipment utilization.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Support
  • Define and maintain effective inventory levels.
  • Contribute to supplier relations strategy (potential overlap with purchasing roles).
  • Implement and sustain a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to ensure materials are consistently available.
  • Automation and Technology Integration
  • Assess processes for automation opportunities with clear ROI justification.
  • Design, specify, or source automation solutions that increase consistency, reduce errors, and save labor.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to execute automation projects.
  • Culture, Teamwork and Leadership
  • Act as the Lean/5S champion across the organization, building camaraderie and a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Be willing to have hard conversations when necessary and always follow through on commitments.
  • Champion change as an essential part of growth, reinforcing that the status quo is only acceptable as a tool to stabilize the present—it must always be improved upon.

A qualified candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Proven experience applying Lean principles, 5S methodology, Kaizen events, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with shopfloor operations (job boards, production planning, fabrication/custom processes).
  • Exposure to automation design, integration, or vendor management preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, including ROI/financial impact assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments.
  • Handson, actionoriented, and resultsdriven.

The successful candidate will:

  • Rapidly stabilize and improve processes through disciplined Lean and 5S practices.
  • Lead Kaizen events and department projects that deliver measurable results within 90180 days.
  • Ensure SOPs, job boards, and production boards create clarity, accountability, and flow.
  • Champion automation projects that make financial and operational sense.
  • Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
