Process Safety Management Advisor

Qualification Degree in Engineering (Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Control Systems, Petroleum, Fire or Loss Prevention).


Years of Experience Minimum 20 years of professional experience required - preferably within an Oil & Gas Operating Company or Risk Consultancy.

Can act as Process Hazard Facilitator (PHA) for Major projects or Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) for major projects.


Job Description:

  1. To provide technical support and guidance to the Company in planning, developing and implementing the Company Process Safety Management System, including the development and implementation of best practices for Process Safety and Risk Management disciplines.
  2. Evaluate technical quality issues and identify technical improvement, quality assurance of deliverables and implementing cost benefit improvements for the discipline.
  3. Provide in-depth technical leadership and support to the Company sites with a focus on hazard identification, risk assessment and providing cost effective risk management solutions.
  4. Provide a permanent lead in developing and improving the safe technology tools. Provide specialist advice and guidance to the Company.
  5. Assist the Company to ensure the necessary level of PSM technical assurance and integrity is achieved throughout the Company. Assist the Company to develop risk-based solutions to novel or higher risk situations, including the provision of adequate and accurate PSM platforms to establish practical risk criteria and field wide controls to Operational Risks.
  6. Provide technical support to the Company in decision making process to resolve key risk and process safety issues and generate supporting documentation to substantiate the resolution. Drive improvement in the areas of Process Safety, Risk Management and Loss Prevention.
  7. Provide technical leadership via involvement (participation/facilitation) formal technical networks/work groups.
  8. Develop and deliver training in Process Safety, Risk Management and Loss Prevention, in particular in the areas of Risk Assessment, Safety Integrity Levels, Risk-Based Design and Safe Operating Practices for key engineering and operating personnel.
  9. Develop and maintain the Process Safety and Risk Management Framework, including its required technical procedures, standards, best practices, and guidelines.
  10. Identify and review new technological developments/ practices, which may provide more efficient and cost-effective solutions.
