Job Summary: The Senior Procurement Engineer will oversee all procurement activities, including vendor management, material planning, cost control, and contract negotiation. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality materials, components, and services while maintaining cost-effectiveness and efficient supply chain management. The Senior Procurement Engineer will also drive vendor performance improvement, manage supplier relationships, and identify opportunities for procurement optimization.
1. New Vendor Identification:
- Research and identify potential new vendors for sourcing raw materials, components, and services required by the company.
- Evaluate and assess new suppliers based on quality, reliability, delivery timelines, and price competitiveness.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, new suppliers, and alternative sourcing opportunities.
2. Vendor Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and suppliers, ensuring consistent quality, timely deliveries, and adherence to contractual agreements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor-related queries, issues, and communication.
- Regularly evaluate vendor performance based on key metrics such as product quality, delivery performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Resolve vendor-related issues promptly, including quality discrepancies, delivery delays, or billing issues.
- Collaborate with vendors to establish mutually beneficial terms and foster long-term partnerships.
3. Cost Savings and Budget Management:
- Identify opportunities for cost savings across the procurement process, including negotiating better prices, discounts, and terms with existing and new vendors.
- Conduct cost analysis and work closely with finance and production teams to ensure procurement activities align with budget requirements.
- Drive efforts to reduce procurement-related expenses without compromising on quality or service levels.
- Implement cost-effective procurement strategies to ensure the company remains competitive in the market.
4. Negotiation and Contract Management:
- Lead the negotiation process with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Prepare and manage supplier contracts, ensuring that terms are in line with company requirements and risk management policies.
- Ensure that all vendor contracts are legally sound and protect the company’s interests.
5. Material Planning and Demand Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the production, sales, and inventory teams to develop accurate material plans and ensure that sufficient inventory levels are maintained to meet production requirements.
- Analyze historical demand patterns and forecast future material needs to prevent supply chain disruptions.
- Ensure that material lead times and procurement schedules are aligned with production plans and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor and manage the material ordering process, ensuring timely procurement and delivery to prevent shortages or delays.
6. Transporters and Tariff Management:
- Negotiate transportation rates and tariffs with logistics providers, ensuring the company secures the best pricing for shipping and transportation services.
- Manage relationships with transporters and third-party logistics companies to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of materials.
- Monitor transportation performance and resolve any transportation-related issues that may impact the timely delivery of goods.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to optimize routes, delivery schedules, and transportation costs.
7. Supplier Performance Evaluation:
- Develop and implement supplier performance evaluation systems, based on key metrics such as delivery time, quality, cost, and service.
- Continuously monitor and review supplier performance to ensure they meet or exceed company expectations.
- Implement corrective actions for suppliers who do not meet performance standards, and work with them to improve service levels.
8. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including risks related to vendor reliability, material quality, and transportation.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements in all procurement activities.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions, such as vendor delays, quality issues, or transportation challenges.
9. Reporting and Data Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including cost savings, vendor performance, material planning, and logistics efficiency.
- Analyze procurement data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in the supply chain.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for continuous improvement of procurement processes.
10. Ad-hoc Responsibilities:
- Assist with special procurement projects, such as sourcing new materials or products for new product lines.
- Support cross-functional teams in various organizational initiatives, such as new product development or cost-reduction projects.
Actively contribute to process improvements and the implementation of technology solutions in procurement activities
