Job Title: Procurement Engineer – Construction
Location: Dubai, UAE
Department: Supply Chain / Engineering
Reports To: CEO / Project Manager
Job Summary:
The Procurement Engineer in the construction industry is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and subcontracted services required for construction projects. This role ensures that procurement activities align with project timelines, budget constraints, technical specifications, and compliance requirements. The Procurement Engineer works closely with engineering, site teams, and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and quality assurance of all purchased goods and services..
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and estimators to identify project-specific procurement needs.
- Review technical drawings, BOQs (Bills of Quantities), and project specifications to determine material and equipment requirements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotations) to vendors and subcontractors; analyze quotations based on cost, quality, compliance, and lead time.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contractual terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and services to construction sites in line with project schedules.
- Maintain and update procurement logs, supplier databases, and documentation.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delays, quality, or non-compliance.
- Ensure compliance with legal and safety regulations, as well as company procurement policies.
- Coordinate with logistics teams for transportation, customs clearance, and site deliveries.
- Participate in cost control and value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture
- 3–5+ years of procurement experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractor markets.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in procurement and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Procore).
- Knowledge of contract law, supplier management, and negotiation strategies.
