Job Title: Procurement Manager

Location: Mumbai, Andheri MIDC

Role Overview

The Procurement Manager in an FMCG organization is responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement activities that maximize Gross Profit (GP) and Net Profit (NP) through cost optimization, supplier management, and efficient procurement practices. This role ensures that purchasing decisions contribute directly to the company’s profitability while maintaining uninterrupted supply and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Profit-Focused Procurement Strategy

  • Evaluate SKU-wise packaging BOMs (primary, secondary, tertiary) and map packaging cost per unit and as a percentage of COGS.
  • Identify high-cost SKUs and cost leakages arising from material choice, design, MOQ, wastage, or vendor pricing.
  • Develop procurement strategies with a focus on optimizing GP and NP by managing cost variations in raw materials, packaging, and indirect spends.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for procurement decisions to ensure maximum contribution to profitability.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales to forecast procurement impact on margins and profits.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Lead vendor rationalisation, renegotiation, and dual-sourcing strategies to achieve sustainable cost savings
  • Creating suppliers pool for raw material availability
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost reductions, favourable payment terms, and value-added services.
  • Monitor supplier performance to minimize cost overruns that could negatively impact GP/NP.
  • Ensure contracts include clauses that mitigate price fluctuations and risk.

Inventory & Store Management

  • Oversee store and warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels, focusing on high-demand or high-cost items and avoid overstocking that ties up capital.
  • Implement inventory control systems, cycle counts and stock reconciliation processes.
  • Analyze consumption trends to maintain an efficient shortlist of high-stock items for priority management.

Cost Control & Analysis

  • Track procurement costs versus budgets and identify areas where cost savings can improve GP and NP.
  • Analyze procurement trends and price variations to recommend adjustments in sourcing strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on GP/NP impact of procurement decisions to senior management.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Accounts, Sales, and Marketing teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives and profitability goals.
  • Advise on cost-saving initiatives and procurement-related profit improvement opportunities.
  • Resolve supply chain challenges without negatively affecting GP/NP.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Recommend packaging redesign initiatives including material substitution, thickness optimisation, carton rationalisation and print/finish optimisation, in coordination with QC, Production and Marketing
  • Implement processes and tools to track procurement’s impact on profitability.
  • Ensure procurement compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and FMCG industry standards.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase profit contribution.

  • Vendor comparison and benchmarking reports
  • Cost-reduction proposals with quantified savings
  • Periodic packaging cost optimisation dashboard

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of procurement experience in FMCG packaging procurement, sourcing with a strong focus on Planning, cost management and profit impact
  • Strong understanding of laminates, bottles, cartons, inks, and FMCG packaging economic

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong financial acumen to analyze procurement cost variations and their impact on profitability.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Good team management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other MS Office application

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: Up to ₹100,000.00 per month
