Position Summary: The Procurement Manager leads and coordinates all procurement and materials management activities to support production, customer delivery, and inventory objectives. This role oversees purchasing strategy, supplier performance, and materials planning while partnering with Operations, Scheduling, Quality, Finance, and Sales. Responsibilities include supervising purchasing personnel, developing sourcing strategies, monitoring inventory health, and supporting cross-functional planning activities.

Essential Functions

Procurement Strategy & Execution

  • Lead purchasing activities for materials, components, MRO items, consumables, and contracted services.
  • Maintain procurement practices that support cost effectiveness, delivery performance, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate material replenishment, work order support, and purchasing parameters within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Review purchase requests, negotiate terms, and manage supplier agreements in alignment with company policies.

Inventory & Material Planning

  • Monitor inventory levels and material demand trends to support production and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain inventory parameters including reorder points, safety stock, and economic order quantities.
  • Support cross-functional review of slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory and participate in disposition recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Sales to support material availability for planned demand.

Supplier Management

  • Develop supplier relationships, evaluate performance, and participate in sourcing events and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support communication with suppliers regarding forecasts, schedules, delivery requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate subcontracting activities and movement of material between internal and external work centers.

Documentation, Policies & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, including supplier information, pricing, lead times, and procurement records.
  • Develop or maintain purchasing-related work instructions using ComplianceQuest or equivalent systems.

  • Support adherence to company purchasing policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in SIOP processes by preparing procurement metrics and highlighting material risks or capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with internal teams regarding shortages, expedite needs, schedule changes, and supply chain impacts.
  • Provide regular updates on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and inventory health.
  • Supervise procurement staff, including hiring, training, work prioritization, and performance feedback.
  • Support employee development through coaching, training opportunities, and reinforcement of standard processes.
  • Address routine personnel issues and escalate matters in alignment with company policy.
  • Knowledge of supply chain fundamentals, MRP/ERP systems, and purchasing practices.
  • Skill in negotiation, supplier communication, and data analysis.
  • Ability to develop sourcing strategies and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data tools such as Excel and Power BI.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years of combined procurement, materials management, production scheduling, or demand planning experience, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
  • Combination of office and production-floor interaction.
  • May occasionally require extended hours depending on operational needs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and computer-based work.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Periodic movement through warehouse and production areas.

  • Increase inventory turns for purchased materials by optimizing order quantities, replenishment logic, and material flow.
  • Reduce expedite frequency and associated costs by improving forecasting, communication, and supplier alignment.
  • Improve supplier lead-time adherence by reinforcing expectations, clarifying requirements, and monitoring performance.
  • Increase the percentage of spend covered by agreements through strategic sourcing and negotiation activities.

Pay: $76,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
