Procurement Manager / Office Manager

West Des Moines, United States

About Morris Lare Interior Design

Morris Lare Interior Design is a values-driven residential design firm serving discerning clients entering new chapters of life. We create timeless, intentional homes defined by craftsmanship, warmth, and functionality. Our team thrives on collaboration, integrity, and operational excellence. We are looking for a business-minded operations professional who will play a critical role in both the daily and financial health of our firm.

Role Overview

The Procurement & Studio Operations Manager position is not a stepping stone to a designer position. You will serve as our in-house expert and point person for all things procurement, project budgeting, and studio management. You take pride in the how of our business, making sure every order, spreadsheet, process, and detail runs smoothly, accurately, and profitably. You’ll be involved from the earliest stages of each project, helping to set budgets and identify purchasing strategies before procurement even begins, as well as overseeing the studio’s daily operations to keep our team running at its best.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Budgeting & Product Setup

  • Partner with the design team at the outset of each project to develop room-by-room budgets that reflect client goals, quality standards, and profitability targets.
  • Price all FF&E and materials for procurement, set up items in Studio Designer, and generate clear, organized proposals for client approval.
  • Provide strategic guidance on vendor selection, identifying alternatives and negotiating terms to maximize profitability and project success.

Procurement & Financial Stewardship

  • Manage the entire procurement lifecycle: issue purchase orders, track and expedite orders, handle vendor and warehouse communications, and coordinate deliveries/installations.
  • Review all costs, markups, invoices, and shipping charges for accuracy; collaborate with accounting to reconcile and report on procurement and project profitability.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to improve firm margins—renegotiating vendor terms, sourcing better alternatives, or streamlining processes.
  • Prepare actionable procurement and financial reports for the leadership team, and flag issues before they affect the bottom line.

Studio Operations & Project Management

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the studio, including building services, supply management, and workspace organization.
  • Receive and process deliveries, coordinate storage, and ensure the studio is organized, stocked, and ready for both team and client needs.
  • Maintain documentation, files, and vendor records; keep all procurement, installation, and administrative processes running smoothly.
  • Support and delegate to project designers as needed, coordinating logistics, installations, and ensuring compliance with building management requirements.
  • Continually look for ways to streamline workflows, improve documentation, and enhance operational efficiency across the firm.

What Sets You Apart

  • You are not an aspiring designer. Your strengths and interests lie in numbers, processes, and business operations, not creative direction.
  • Analytical and business-minded: You excel with spreadsheets, budgets, pricing, and understand how every financial detail affects project and firm health.
  • Organized and detail-driven: You love knowing where every order, invoice, and delivery stands at all times, and you find satisfaction in meticulous work.
  • Excellent with numbers: Math and money are in your comfort zone; you spot discrepancies, optimize for profit, and bring financial discipline to every decision.
  • Financially savvy: You understand bookkeeping and accounting basics, and you know how to use procurement as a lever to protect profitability.
  • Process optimizer: You’re always asking, “How could this work better?” and you’re skilled at implementing practical improvements.
  • Proactive and resourceful: You anticipate issues, suggest improvements, and seek out better vendor relationships or smarter purchasing options.
  • Studio steward: You enjoy creating and maintaining a well-run, organized, and welcoming studio environment.
  • Team player: You communicate clearly, delegate appropriately, and support a collaborative, high-functioning team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in procurement, operations, supply chain, accounting, or a related business field.
  • 3+ years of procurement/project management experience, preferably in high-end interior design, architecture, or a related industry.
  • Proven comfort and skill with numbers, spreadsheets, and financial data; Excel or Google Sheets proficiency required.
  • Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping/accounting principles and their application to procurement and project budgeting.
  • Experience with Studio Designer, Design Manager, or similar platforms is a plus (willing to train the right candidate).
  • Demonstrated track record of improving processes, increasing profitability, or optimizing business operations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Why Join Morris Lare

  • Be a key part of a principled, growth-minded team that values your contributions.
  • Influence and refine the operational and financial backbone of a thriving design firm.
  • Work in a culture that celebrates both creativity and operational excellence and values stewardship of client trust, resources, and time.
