Procurement Officer – Construction Industry
Job Purpose
To manage procurement activities for construction projects, ensuring timely sourcing from approved suppliers at competitive commercial terms while maintaining quality, compliance, and supply reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials and services required for construction projects from approved local and international suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost efficiency and timely availability.
- Coordinate with Project, Commercial, and Logistics teams for material planning and delivery schedules.
- Prepare purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, and ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements based on project schedules.
- Maintain an updated supplier database and conduct regular vendor performance evaluations.
- Perform market research and cost benchmarking within the construction sector.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, contract terms, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of procurement experience in construction companies is mandatory.
- Proven experience handling procurement in project-based construction environments.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and coordination skills.
- Good knowledge of import documentation, logistics coordination, and shipping terms.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet construction timelines.
