Procurement - Supply Planner

The Supply Planner is responsible for reviewing Sales Order/Work Order Reports, customer forecasts, component inventory levels, and coordinating the flow of materials to support production schedules. This role ensures timely orders are created and issued to cross-functional teams to minimize production downtime by effectively planning, monitoring, and controlling materials through final assembly. The Supply Planner works closely with Customer Account Managers, Purchasing, Production, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to prevent material shortages and maintain system accuracy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor component inventory levels to ensure alignment with customer required-by dates and planned production schedules.
  • Release, track, allocate, and manage work orders in accordance with material and production requirements.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support manufacturing schedules.
  • With guidance from the Senior Production Planner, develop production and inventory management plans to support material requirements.
  • Collaborate with Customer Account Managers to coordinate arrivals of customer-supplied materials and align any special requirements for work order processing.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to confirm material availability and supplier readiness.
  • Communicate regularly with Production Planning and Operations teams to align material flow with manufacturing needs.
  • Maintain accurate item master data, material usage, and vendor information within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Identify, communicate, and proactively resolve potential material shortages or supply chain disruptions.
  • Review, understand, and maintain familiarity with existing Bills of Material (BOMs) and corresponding physical products.
  • Support engineering changes, material substitutions, and related updates as required.
  • Track inbound shipments and internal material transfers to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Generate and distribute routine reports on material usage, inventory status, and shortages.
  • Work closely with the Demand Planner to review customer forecasts and derive material requirements on a monthly basis.
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Sales to align on material requirements based on Master Supply Agreements with customers.
  • Create part numbers, descriptions, and component lists for packaging specs for new product launches and revisions.
  • Ensure QA release for materials where applicable.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse and Production to monitor inventory levels for non-inventory items (neckband, shrink wrap, wafer seals, gloves, hair nets, etc.).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or supply chain management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and logistics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
