Produce Customer Service (part-time day and weekend shifts)

Valley Natural Foods, a community-owned cooperative in Burnsville, is looking for a dependable and upbeat Part-Time Produce Customer Service team member to help keep our produce department looking fresh and vibrant.

What You'll Do:

  • Keep our produce displays stocked, clean, and looking beautiful.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers looking for produce tips or product info.
  • Rotate and check produce for freshness and quality throughout your shift.
  • Assist with unloading deliveries and prepping produce for the sales floor.
  • Support the team with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining department standards.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent reliability, we depend on our produce team!
  • Comfort working on your feet, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and staying active throughout your shift.
  • Interest in fresh food, healthy eating, or sustainable agriculture is a big plus.
  • Previous grocery, produce, or retail experience is helpful, but we’ll train the right person.
  • Weekend availability is required (including at least one weekend day).

Schedule & Hours:

  • Part-time: Approximately 24–28 hours/week
  • Includes day and weekend shifts (availability on Sundays is a plus)

Requirements:

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication (oral, aural, and written) skills
  • English proficiency
  • Attentive and able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business
  • Regular, predictable attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Familiarity with natural foods, grocery industry or cooperatives

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 30 pounds frequently; 30-50+ pounds occasionally
  • Manual dexterity with ability to reach, grasp and utilize hands, wrists, and fingers for extended periods of time
  • General range visual acuity to evaluate and interact in working environment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Regular exposure to working in refrigerated environments
  • Ability to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and bend occasionally required
