Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Produce Department Manager to oversee daily operations within our small grocery store. This role requires a strong background in produce retail management, inventory control and reaching sales and profit goals. The ideal candidate will have experience ordering, receiving and merchandising fresh produce in a grocery store environment.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for meeting sales and profit targets while working alongside the Store Manager and our close-knit team to keep the whole store running smoothly. You’ll ensure that company policies and freshness standards are met daily, taking pride in a department that reflects our commitment to the community.

Responsibilities
- Manage inventory levels through effective purchasing, stock rotation, and inventory control to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
- Oversee pricing strategies, sales promotions, and merchandising efforts to attract customers and increase department sales.
- Ensure product quality standards are maintained by monitoring freshness, appearance, and safety compliance.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
- Implement marketing initiatives within the department to promote seasonal products or special offers.
- Responsible for achieving Budgeted Gross Profit, Sales Goals, and managing Product Shrinkage within the Produce Department.
- Maintain a clean, organized store environment adhering to safety standards and health regulations.
- Working with the Store Manager, develop, support, motivate, and guide other employees to achieve maximum sales and profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that other employees understand and effectively implement key standards, including Safety, Sanitation, Processing, Pricing, Displaying, Merchandising, Weights and Tares, Scanning, Inventory, and Customer Service.
- Willing to cross train in order to occasionally assist with other departments as needed.
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail environment with a focus on produce or perishable goods.
- Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategies, and sales management.
- Proficiency in retail math, POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail store operations.
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques, stock stocking procedures, marketing strategies, and store management principles.

Requirements
- Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree
- Experience: 3 Years Produce Management OR Store Management Exp.
