Responsibilities
- Concept, design, and develop new products manufactured from sheet metal and stainless steel
- Generate creative product ideas for industrial, commercial, or consumer applications
- Research market trends, customer needs, and competitive products to inform design direction
- Develop sketches, 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
- Design products with manufacturability, durability, cost, and scalability in mind
- Apply sheet metal best practices including bend allowances, material selection, weld considerations, and finishes
- Collaborate closely with Laser, Press Brake, Fabrication, Welding, and Finishing teams during prototyping
- Support first-article builds, pilot runs, and production launches of new products
- Refine designs based on shop feedback, testing results, and real-world fabrication constraints
- Work with the Innovation Team to create and maintain BOMs, specifications, and production documentation
- Assist with product naming, feature descriptions, and basic product positioning in collaboration with Sales and Innovation teams
- Identify opportunities to improve existing products through redesign or simplification
- Submit regular product ideas or improvement concepts to leadership
- Maintain accurate revision control and documentation throughout the product lifecycle
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience designing products using sheet metal and/or stainless steel
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong creativity and product ideation skills
- Understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, forming, welding, and finishing
- Ability to balance aesthetics with manufacturability and cost considerations
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Manufacturing or product development experience preferred
- Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
