Job Summary

The primary role of the Product Engineer 1 position is to lead product-based projects to meet quality, timing, and cost targets by working as part of a cross functional team. The Product Engineer 1 is responsible for Product Definition and Configuration, as it relates to releasing parts to the production floor and they play a key role in the optimization of our products to ensure they meet customer specifications and industry standards. This position would be based out of our Northfield or Bloomington locations, with travel between sites as needed. This position reports to the Director of Product Engineering.

Essential Job Duties

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team (with Sales, CAD, Quality) to determine build requirements
  • Work with customers to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) standards as needed
  • Transform circuit design information into Bill of Material and Route Sheet work instructions for production
  • Provide input to and collaborate with CAD Specialists to establish layouts and generate the necessary fabrication tools.
  • Respond to questions and concerns from technicians, customers, and suppliers as it relates to design issues, quality, and other problems
  • Management of workload to ensure on time release of jobs to production
  • Lead Production Launch reviews by gathering initial build feedback information and results in order to improve manufacturability for volume production
  • Work with Engineering on non-standard designs and development of standards
  • Aide in improvements to front end processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Math, Physics, Chemistry or other science related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience and/or Training

  • Prefer 3-5 years of related Engineering experience in regulated industries.
  • CAD software experience preferred (IGI, InCAM Pro, Solidworks)
  • Circuit board manufacturing experience required
  • Understanding of process flows of different product types in circuit manufacturing
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

We offer a competitive base salary in the $75,000 to $90,000 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus and profit-sharing opportunities tied to performance.
