Product Owner and UX/UI Designer

About Elemental

Elemental Group, based in Poland, is a dynamic capital group specializing in securing critical raw materials from used equipment, serving as a key link in the circular economy and contributing to sustainable development. Through its global network of companies, the company efficiently recovers valuable resources, minimizes waste, and supports industries in the responsible management of raw materials. The company specializes in processing and refining critical elements such as platinum group metals, copper, and other base and precious metals in an environmentally friendly way.

Elemental USA and Elemental North America represent the consolidation of four leading North American catalytic converter recycling companies —PGM of Texas, Legend Smelting and Recycling, Daniel Ball Converter Recycling, and Maryland Core, Inc.— that rebranded in 2024 to signal their evolution from the collection and processing of used catalytic converters to recovering and refining strategic metals. Elemental US and its subsidiaries are proud to be the only catalytic converter recyclers in the U.S. that own the entire recycling process – including refining and smelting.

The Opportunity

Elemental USA is seeking a Product Owner with UX/UI Designer skills to take full ownership of user experience and interface design for the Elemental App, a proprietary internal-facing platform central to our operations.

This is a fully on-site role based at PGM of Texas headquarters in San Marcos, TX. The successful candidate will work closely with the local Chief Information Officer, collaborate with a Poland-based development team, and partner with Marketing to ensure visual alignment with Elemental brand standards.

The Elemental App is primarily used by internal stakeholders — including buyers and yard operators — and provides access to proprietary pricing and operational data developed in-house over several years. This role requires a designer who values clarity, usability, and real-world workflows over surface-level aesthetics.

Role Overview

The Product Owner and UX/UI Designer will serve as the sole owner of the Application for the Elemental App. This individual will be responsible for understanding user needs, translating business and operational requirements into thoughtful design solutions, and delivering clear, well-documented process designs ready for development (in-house development team)

This role blends user-centered design, product thinking, and hands-on execution. It is best suited for someone comfortable making decisions, testing assumptions directly with users, and iterating based on real feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end business process design and UX/UI for the Elemental App, from discovery through delivery
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, usability testing, and feedback sessions with internal users
  • Define user personas, workflows, and journeys based on real operational use cases
  • Translate complex data and processes into clear, efficient, and intuitive interfaces
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using Figma
  • Develop and maintain design systems or component libraries to support consistency and scalability
  • Collaborate closely with developers to ensure clear handoff, feasibility, and implementation accuracy
  • Work with Marketing to ensure designs align with Elemental brand standards while prioritizing usability
  • Iterate designs based on user feedback, testing results, and evolving business needs
  • Document design decisions, patterns, and rationale for internal reference

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating real-world projects such as apps, dashboards, SaaS platforms, or complex websites
  • Clear storytelling in portfolio: problem definition, process, solution, and outcomes
  • Evidence of user research, testing, and iteration — not just final visuals
  • Strong UX skills, including research methods, information architecture, and prototyping
  • Strong UI skills, including typography, layout, color theory, and spacing discipline
  • Experience designing responsive interfaces for both mobile and desktop
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Ability to explain and defend design decisions clearly and professionally
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with developers and working through technical constraints
