Production and Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd Shift - Auto Supplier

Coordinate assembly production supervising press operators in our Injection Molding Dept. as well as skilled trades’ resources in Maintenance to assure plant production produces the the highest quality parts and plant assembly operations continue to efficiently and effectively.

This includes overseeing assembly operations to produce high quality parts from the presses and inspecting equipment, performing preventive/predictive maintenance, assigning tasks, setting schedules, supervising repairs, and enforcing safety policies. Oversee and coordinate the trades who maintain and repair; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, tooling and other building systems. Responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed. This position also supervises Injection Molding Machine Operators that inspect produced parts utilized in our Assembly Line Operations.

  • Prepares work schedules, assigns repairs and over-sees assignments until completion while minimizing overtime and production stoppage.
  • Coaches, counsels and manages performance of direct reports.
  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment, tools and machinery.
  • Arranges for and manages appropriate third-party contractor support as needed.
  • Prepares budgets and secures estimates and cost quotes as needed.
  • Enforces sound safety, housekeeping practices and plant policies/ procedures including PPE requirements.
  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment; order supplies and tools as necessary; prepare documents for equipment procurement; prepare specifications and/or contracts for outside services.
  • Coordinate training of resources as required in; maintenance practices, safety methods, best safety practices, procedures and OSHA requirements/standards.
  • Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities, tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate construction projects, remodels, and other special projects as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports.
  • Coordinate with contractors for needed outside services in conjunction with plant operations.
  • Implement short & long term production planning requirements to achieve weekly MPS schedule compliance
  • Ensures production is efficient & cost effective
  • Ensures production is on time, of good quality and done in a safe manner
  • Manages health and safety and plant rules/ policies compliance: PPE compliance, uniform, safety shoes, safety glasses, and stretching activity daily.
  • Quality Matrix: line scrap by shift-trend, customer QR’s by line, FTT PPM
  • Ensures 5S and zoning is followed and maintained
  • Monitors the production process and follow deviation process/procedure requirements
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies & incorporate data driven analysis
  • Ensures proper administration & application of the collective bargaining agreement amongst team and proactively consults with HR when necessary
  • Manage & motivates team in a manner that is inclusive and enhances employee engagement and respect
  • Evaluate the performance of subordinates including coaching, providing constructive feedback, and setting goals & development plans
  • Identify cross training and rotation with versatility matrix and ergonomic assessments.
  • Understand bottleneck and process improvements, tracking line down time in PLEX and RTO staffing to achieve engineering standards and eradicating non-standard activities.
  • Assure scrap procedures are followed, reduction of scrap, and eradicating daily scrap issues.

Experienced supervisor in manufacturing operations (preferably in automotive) with experience supervising skilled trades and production employees. Manufacturing launch, maintenance &/or engineering experience a plus. Strong interpersonal skills, business acumen and knowledge in the areas of manufacturing engineering, maintenance, material planning & logistics, and quality. Proven leadership and ability to drive results.
