Production Area Specialist

Job Title & Function: Area Specialist - Ensures that production meets or exceeds the quality and quantity requirements in the safest and most efficient manner feasible while promoting and maintaining a team environment within and surrounding Cell Team area. Understands customer expectations, both internal and external, and ensures that resources are effectively utilized to meet or exceed those expectations.

Work Hours: Mon-Thurs 6:00 am - 3:30 pm, Fri 6 am – 10 am

Minimum Qualifications: High school degree or equivalent required; college education preferred; 1-5 Years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; 1+ Years’ experience working with manufacturing machinery and equipment; experience working in a “Lean” environment a plus; prior experience managing people a plus

Primary Responsibilities: Ensure operational quality, processes and policies are being met. Understands and meets production goals within their Cell Team in a manner that allows for timely and efficient completion of production. Coaches and sets expectations and addresses issues within the Cell Team. Ensures Skills Matrix is up to date promoting best utilization of associates including cross-training within and outside of Cell Team, provides insight into Cell Team associates to Production Supervisor for annual review and training opportunities. Responsible for having the right Work in Process (WIP) and Finished Good (FG) inventory (kanban) on hand to meet customer needs both internally and externally. Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of standard work including documents and practices. Maintains all required recordkeeping and reports results as necessary (ex. Ahead behind boards, changeover, scrap, pieces per hour etc.). Accountable for system transactions, inventory accuracy (ex. scrap adjustments and scanning work tickets etc.)

Continual Improvement Directs training and development of associates in a way that allows for proper work cell coverage and optimal flexibility. Drives Lean Manufacturing concepts. Responsible for periodic workplace walks/audits to identify continual improvement opportunities and workplace safety (ex – gemba walks, waste hunts, 5S etc.). Assists other Area Specialists as needed, including assistance to Cell Teams when dedicated Area Specialist is unavailable. Acts as a liaison between Cell Team associates and the Production Supervisor.

Pay Range: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on experience
