The Production Assistant Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations. This role ensures production targets are met, supervises production staff, maintains quality standards, and helps coordinate resources, equipment, and workflow to achieve efficient and safe production.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Operations

  • Assist the Production Manager in planning, organizing, and monitoring daily production activities.
  • Ensure production schedules are followed and targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate workflow between departments such as maintenance, quality, logistics, and planning.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and provide solutions.

2. Team Supervision

  • Oversee production team leaders and operators during shifts.
  • Assign duties, monitor performance, and ensure proper staffing.
  • Provide training and support to new employees and existing staff.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.

3. Quality & Safety

  • Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
  • Support quality audits and participate in investigations of quality issues.

4. Equipment & Resource Coordination

  • Ensure machines and equipment are operated correctly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department for equipment issues and preventive maintenance.
  • Monitor inventory of raw materials, consumables, and tools.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
  • Update records on production outputs, downtime, scrap, and manpower.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement projects.
  • Recommend ways to optimize production processes and reduce waste.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and increase overall productivity.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or related field.

Experience

  • 3–6+ years of experience in production or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in supervisory or team-lead roles is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production planning.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage shift operations.
  • Familiarity with ERP/production systems.
