Production Assistant (Welder/Handyman)

We are a Columbia, TN precision manufacturer looking for a production assistant who is skilled in welding, able to read drawings and perform other necessary duties, and is a good communicator.

Workload

Part-time, 24-hour week to full-time, 40-hour week schedule of operating a laser welder, a plasma cutter, a band saw, and caring for other production responsibilities such as organizing unprocessed metals and plastics and assisting with freight unloading, as well as caring for some pick-up and drop-off work or other necessary duties around the production area. Additionally, the production assistant will need to be available for occasional 1–3 day business trips to out of state customers.

Skills

Though this is an entry-level position, applicants should have strong general welding skills., including MIG, TIG, and stick. They should be able to understand 2D and 3D drawings made in AUTOCAD. They should be comfortable following direction, working with short lead times, and being a self-starter. Applicants will need strong social skills, friendliness, and a willingness to maintain good work relationships with other production workers, office workers, and customers. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and the legal right to work in the United States.

Compensation

The production assistant role will receive gross pay of $17.50/hr - $20/hr. + a paid lunch. Adjustments may be made based on skill or experience.
