Production Engineer

The Production engineer is fully accountable for all fabrication outputs . This is a hands-on leadership role: you will manage the factory floor, direct in-house fabricators and subcontract labour, read and interpret AutoCAD shop drawings, ensure on-time delivery of fabricated elements to site, and maintain zero-defect quality standards throughout. You are the single point of accountability for everything that leaves the factory gate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fabrication Management

  • Own end-to-end factory production: cutting, machining, assembly, and finishing of aluminium and glass elements.
  • Read, interpret, and distribute AutoCAD shop drawings, cutting lists, optimisation lists, and assembly schedules to the fabrication team.
  • Plan and schedule production sequences to meet project delivery milestones set by the Projects Manager.
  • Coordinate CNC machine programming and operation; troubleshoot equipment issues to minimise downtime.
  • Manage raw material consumption against the Materials Take-Off (MTO) and flag shortfalls to Procurement in advance.

Quality Control & Sign-Off

  • Perform and document pre-delivery QC inspections on all fabricated items against approved shop drawing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Sign off each batch before dispatch to site — you are accountable for dimensional accuracy, finish quality, and completeness.
  • Raise and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs); drive root-cause analysis and corrective action for recurring defects.
  • Ensure factory housekeeping, tool calibration, and waste management comply with company and client standards.

Team & Subcontractor Management

  • Supervise, assign, and appraise in-house fabricators; identify training needs and escalate HR matters to the Projects Manager.
  • Manage subcontract fabrication teams on-site and in the factory; enforce attendance, output, and quality targets.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce PPE and factory safety rules at all times.

Cost Tracking & Reporting

  • Track factory costs (labour hours, material usage, overtime, consumables) and report actuals to the Accounts & Finance Manager monthly.
  • Work with QS & Estimation In Charge to reconcile fabricated quantities against the BOQ for monthly progress billing.
  • Flag cost overruns, waste, and rework costs to the Projects Manager promptly.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Liaise with Design In Charge to clarify drawing queries, request revisions, and confirm site measurements before cutting.
  • Coordinate with Procurement & Project Coordinator on material delivery schedules, supplier lead times, and inventory levels.
  • Provide weekly production status updates to the Projects Manager; attend project progress meetings as required.
  • Support the Site Supervisor during installation by ensuring elements are correctly labelled, packed, and sequenced for delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent trade qualification).

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aluminium fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or production-lead role.
  • Proven track record managing factory output for facade, curtain wall, window, or glazing projects in the UAE or GCC.
  • Hands-on experience with aluminium systems from brands such as Gutmann, Technal, Schüco, or equivalent.
  • Experience operating or overseeing CNC cutting centres, milling machines, and crimping equipment.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed AutoCAD shop drawings, cutting lists, and assembly instructions independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for production scheduling, cutting optimisation sheets, and cost tracking.
  • Familiarity with material optimisation software (e.g., Orgadata LogiKal, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of factory safety regulations applicable in the UAE.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong leadership presence — able to maintain discipline and output on a busy factory floor.
  • Detail-oriented with a zero-defect quality mindset; does not release substandard work.
  • Proactive communicator who escalates risks early rather than absorbing delays silently.
  • Physically fit and comfortable spending extended periods on the factory floor and, when required, on construction sites.
