Job Summary
The Production Engineer – BMU is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing production activities related to Building Maintenance Units (BMU), including structural fabrication, assembly, installation coordination, and quality assurance/control activities. The role ensures production targets, safety standards, engineering specifications, and QA/QC requirements are achieved efficiently and in compliance with project standards and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Manufacturing
- Plan and supervise day-to-day BMU production activities.
- Coordinate fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and finishing works.
- Ensure production is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Optimize manpower, machinery, and material utilization.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and site teams for smooth project execution.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor productivity and implement process improvements to reduce wastage and downtime.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished products.
- Support installation and testing activities when required.
QA/QC Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections during fabrication and assembly stages.
- Ensure all BMU components comply with approved drawings, client specifications, and international standards.
- Verify welding quality, dimensional accuracy, surface finishing, and assembly tolerances.
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC documents, inspection reports, checklists, and material traceability records.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and consultants during inspections.
- Ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions for non-conformance issues.
- Review material certificates, test reports, and quality records.
- Conduct final inspection before dispatch and installation.
- Participate in internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Health & Safety
- Ensure safe working practices are followed in the production area.
- Promote compliance with company HSE policies and UAE safety regulations.
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by workers and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in BMU, steel fabrication, façade access systems, or related engineering industry.
- Knowledge of BMU systems, structural fabrication, and mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection methods, and welding standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards is preferred.
