Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Production Engineer (Electrical, Controls, Automation) to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the implementation/maintenance of projects having specific technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of the Electrical Engineering discipline, with a focus on Controls and Automation Engineering. The ideal candidate will leverage prior experience and in-depth subject-matter knowledge, and identify new specifications or technical characteristics required for stamping/manufacturing Yazaki products. They will also review and assess existing internal capabilities versus industry trends.
Responsibilities
- Participate in initiatives to develop new technologies and/or improve existing technologies in all areas of the company that will lead to excellence in the industry.
- Drive continual improvement in the manufacturing process.
- Drive OEE improvement and overall maintenance effectiveness.
- Provide engineering support on major equipment repairs and overhauls and lead root cause investigations into equipment failures. (Electrical = Primary, Mechanical = Secondary)
- Provide recommendations/directions for technological improvements and participate in the implementation of process optimization.
- Promote growth/development of fellow associates in areas related to his / her area of expertise.
- Prepare / Coordinate Budgetary Functions related to current/future Equipment Forecasts. (Capital Investment Planning, Mid-Range / Long Term Forecasts, etc.)
- Solicit/assess bids/quotations for Manufacturing Equipment and/or Infrastructure Maintenance.
- Effective technical communication.
- Review and interpret specifications and requirements.
- Review and interpret Safety Requirements (OSHA, MIOSHA, Yazaki Directives, etc.).
- Design and Develop Control Systems and algorithms based on project requirements.
- Conduct System Integration, Testing, and Debugging to assure functionality and reliability.
- Work independently, with directions from direct management.

Requirements
- Engineering Degree - Electrical (Controls/Automation focus preferred)
- Familiarity with Electro-Mechanical Production Equipment/Infrastructure. Must possess a record of accomplishment and success in prior engineering roles.
- Travel is on an as-needed basis for training and business operations
- Physical requirements: primarily sedentary; however, it does require on-floor capabilities (walking, access to various locations within the building).
