Production Engineering Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

Provides technical support to designated projects and to specific production lines. This support includes new project planning, support and implementation as well as current production support in the areas of quality, safety, cost and productivity as related to equipment, processes and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluate existing manufacturing systems and develop new systems as required to optimize production methods and efficiencies, machine utilization, component capacity, material flow, worker safety and product quality
• Provides technical assistance to production for work orders related to tooling and equipment
• Sets weld conditions on all automatic processes, including maintenance of weld condition sheets
• Recognize and initiate cost reduction and manufacturing process improvement projects in order to reduce standard work, increase efficiencies and improve product quality
• Assures that equipment documentation is available, updated, accessible
• Attends quality problem report meetings and works with production, quality and maintenance to identify and implement countermeasures.
• Works to define and implement countermeasures necessary to meet company and department goals
• Takes the lead in new project and ECI implementation including creation of plant documents, I/S, schedules, new equipment, tool/die design and procurement, trials, training, line layout/part flow and manpower
• Supports production and maintenance to help ensure smooth operation. Minor changes and debugging to PLC programs
• Responds to trouble calls from the manufacturing area
• Identifies, creates and implements plans to reduce down time and scrap and improve quality, safety, and productivity in responsible zone
• May be assigned special projects as necessary
• Stay abreast of current manufacturing and engineering technologies
• Other duties as assigned
