DEPARTMENT: Production
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
JOB SUMMARY: Manages and coordinates all production activities, operations, and staff to ensure conformance to established procedures; implements practices that maximize production efforts to improve the overall effectiveness and financial performance of the production function.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective department processes, policies, and procedures

Manage the capacity of the manufacturing processes

Responsible for maintaining the production job schedule
-
Maintains knowledge of machine capacity and develops solutions for efficient utilization
-
Interfaces with maintenance and/or engineering to ensure all equipment in maintained in top condition
-
Troubleshoot and solve manufacturing problems, involves other departments and/or personnel as needed
-
Interfaces with Quality department to ensure highest degree of final quality and develop new and better-quality methods

Ensures approved manufacturing methodology is being followed

Implement lean standards and improvements
-
Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement
-
Develops and communicates goals and key initiatives to improve plant performance and success
-
Maintains knowledge of the skills of the labor force to manage in time of employee absence or unexpected peak demands

Interfaces with Director of Operations to control operating costs
-
Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints
-
Support plant budget by controlling labor and overtime, inventory, supply spending, waste, etc.

Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops production staff; manages schedules and workflow

Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations
-
Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.

Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.

Ensures all personnel are trained and institutes reinforcement training when necessary
-
Reads travelers (work orders) and obtains (purchases if required) substrates, and related supplies as needed to produce jobs

Maintains inventory levels of substrates/ supplies
-
Works in collaboration with the warehouse department on housekeeping, inventory and other needs
-
Ensures all safety rules and regulations are followed; investigates accidents in a timely, accurate, and complete manner

Coordinates and manages all safety training
-
Maintains a safe work environment by taking corrective action to solve unsafe work practices or environmental issues
-
Champion all aspects of personal and facility safety including safety engagement, participating as a lead on a safety committee, instill a sense of self-responsibility for safety within the department and ensures the safe use of equipment, PPE and other safety related items

Prepares required reports and correspondence

Performs other related duties as assigned by management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Directly supervises ~3-5 employees within the Production Department
-
Indirectly supervises 30-40 employees within the Production Department
-
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
-
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s Degree required: Engineering or Operations preferred
-
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience required
-
Proven ability to run a manufacturing operation required
-
Lean manufacturing formal training and/or experience preferred
-
Working knowledge of quality procedures in the medical industry preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud (the production floor is considered a sustained loud manufacturing environment that requires hearing protection)

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including, but not limited to: gowning, hair nets, beard covers, eye protection, hearing protection, and any other necessary PPE
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
-
$115,000 - $120,000 per year.

This is position is fully on site in Huntington Beach, CA.
