Production Manager
Hollister, CA · Full-Time, On-Site · $85,000 – $110,000 / year DOE
Most production managers manage. The best ones build something.
At American Precast Concrete, we’re not looking for someone to fill a seat — we’re looking for a leader who will walk onto our Hollister yard and make it run better than it ever has. Someone who sees a production floor and immediately spots what can be tighter, faster, and safer. Someone whose crew respects them not because of their title, but because of how they show up every single day.
This is a role for a person who has been waiting for the chance to own something real.
WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- You’ll have real authority — over people, process, scheduling, quality, and safety. No micromanagement from above.
- You’re joining a company that has been building California’s infrastructure for decades and is investing in its next chapter.
- Competitive compensation ($85K–$110K DOE) with performance bonuses, full medical/dental/vision, 401(k) match, and PTO.
- Your decisions will matter. What you build here will be visible — in structures, in people, and in outcomes.
THE ROLE
You will own end-to-end production operations at our Hollister precast concrete yard. That means the floor, the crew, the schedule, the quality, and the results are yours. You’ll work closely with Project Management, QA, and Logistics — but at the end of the day, what comes off this yard is a reflection of your leadership.
Lead the Floor
- Drive daily production meetings — safety, quality, priorities, accountability. Every single day.
- Own the schedule: build it, defend it, and hit it. Translate project timelines into shop-floor reality.
- Be present. This is not a desk job — your team needs to see you out there.
Raise the Bar on Quality
- Every product that leaves this yard meets spec. Full stop.
- Partner with QA at every stage; lead root-cause analysis when things go wrong and fix them permanently.
Build a Culture of Safety
- Zero-incident is the expectation, not the aspiration. Champion it relentlessly.
- Enforce OSHA compliance; address hazards immediately and without hesitation.
Develop Your People
- Mentor leads, operators, and laborers — build the team’s capability, not just its output.
- Conduct performance reviews that are honest, fair, and actionable. Hold the standard.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste, downtime, and rework.
- Write and enforce SOPs that make consistency the default, not the exception.
Manage Resources
- Oversee inventory, procurement coordination, and preventive equipment maintenance.
- Report KPIs to leadership with clarity and candor — the good, the bad, and the plan.
WHO YOU ARE
You have at least 5 years of production or operations management experience — ideally in precast, concrete, or heavy manufacturing. You’ve led hourly teams of 10 or more. You know what good looks like on a production floor because you’ve built it before.
But beyond the résumé, you’re the kind of leader people want to follow. Direct. Fair. Accountable. You don’t wait for problems to come to you — you find them first. You communicate clearly with floor crews and with executives. And when something goes wrong, your instinct is to fix it, not explain it.
You Bring
- 5+ years in production / operations management — precast or concrete experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable teams of 10+ across multiple functions
- Hands-on knowledge of precast concrete manufacturing processes
- Strong OSHA knowledge and a genuine commitment to safety culture
- Experience with production scheduling, KPI tracking, and operational reporting
- Clear, confident communication — from the yard floor to the leadership table
Bonus Points
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Experience with software: Slack, Asana, Buildertrend, or similar
- Bilingual English/Spanish — a significant advantage with our crew
- Familiarity with PCI quality certification standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Active, daily presence on the production floor and yard — hands-on, not hands-off
- Outdoor environment: dust, noise, and variable weather are part of the job
- Physical requirements include extended standing/walking, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Extended hours or weekend availability during peak production periods
