Company description

Our client is a U.S.-based seafood distribution and processing company with multi-site operations, including a seafood processing facility in South Florida. The organization focuses on safe, efficient, and timely processing to support customer demand, with close coordination across production, procurement, quality, logistics, warehouse, and commercial teams.

Objective of the Role

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure the efficient and timely processing of seafood products. This role ensures production plans align with demand and inventory realities, supports service-level performance, and helps minimize operational disruption and cost.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on production planning professional with experience in food manufacturing, seafood processing, or a related distribution environment. They are comfortable operating in a fast-paced setting, communicate clearly across functions, and can translate forecasts and orders into actionable, shop-floor-ready schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously refine production schedules based on forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials, packaging, and required supplies.
  • Monitor workflow execution and adjust schedules to meet demand while minimizing downtime and changeover inefficiencies.
  • Oversee and align the activities of the off-site production planning team to ensure accurate, efficient scheduling.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to support consistent product quality and adherence to required standards.
  • Track inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages, aging risk, or excess stock.
  • Communicate production plans, priorities, and changes to warehouse, logistics, and sales to ensure end-to-end alignment.
  • Prepare production reports and performance metrics to support operational reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify and resolve planning constraints, including equipment downtime, labor availability, and supply disruptions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or coordination, ideally within seafood, food manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a practical problem-solving approach.
  • Proficiency with planning tools, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cold environment.
  • Knowledge of seafood handling, processing, and quality standards is advantageous.
