Production Manager

Position Summary: BFC Architectural Metals is a well-established metal fabrication shop which serves local, national, and international customers from our production facility in SeaTac, Washington. We are a hard-working group of folks who work collaboratively and love taking on diverse and challenging projects. We are growing rapidly and now seeking a Production Manager who is a great fit with our collaborative culture to grow with us in this exciting time.

This is a hands-on environment, so if you don’t like to get your hands dirty this is not the job for you. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on background in metal fabrication, high aptitude for problem solving, great organization, prioritization, and time management skills, and the ability to lead, coach, and inspire others to perform their best. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual otherwise qualified must be able to perform each overall duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, additional qualifications, and/or ability required.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Work with and report to General Manager on all Shop Responsibilities and Production.

Work along side production staff as needed.

Collaborate with sales, purchasing, and design for shared information and best practices.

Manage Production manpower and Labor costs.

Manage Production employees.

Manage shipping and receiving.

Responsible for QC, ensuring jobs are produced accurately and meet our high standard of quality.

Manage and coordinate production schedule, to ensure all jobs are produced on time with the resources available.

Manage Facility Maintenance for Offices and Production Facilities.

Review and provide input on design and details.

Review projects with estimating and sales teams for project budget, schedules and bids.

Manage equipment and tool needs for production facility.

Lead team on shop safety needs and concerns.

Manage all company policies as they relate to plant operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing, and monitoring production; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Additional Qualifications:

Hands-on fabrication skills and deep understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, cutting, grinding, shearing, brake forming, punching, waterjet cutting, machining, painting, and finishing.

Prior experience as a shop supervisor or production manager in a metal fabrication shop.

Ability to understand use of basic Computer programs and spread sheets such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.

Ability to comprehend and use Architectural Drawings, construction Documents, Fabrication Drawings and Cad Drawings.

Extensive knowledge of equipment and fabrication tool usages.

Knowledge and understanding of CNC fabrication machinery and its operation.

Detailed knowledge of Architectural sealants and applications.

Basic knowledge of “Lean Manufacturing” concepts.

Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Effective verbal and written communication.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math including fractions and decimals.

Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, orally, by diagram, or schedule format. Must be able to identify problems and implement effective countermeasures.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel, reach above head with hands and arms, lift, push, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, pull, talk and hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud - hearing protection is always required on the plant floor.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of plant production and fabrication operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
