Production Operations Engineer – Oil & Gas (Ventura, CA)

Location: Ventura, CA (Full-time, On-site)
Compensation: $175,000/year + car allowance + benefits after probationary period

Privately held energy company with active oil and gas operations across Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties is hiring a full-time Production Operations Engineer to join our Ventura-based team. We’re looking for a motivated, experienced engineer who’s ready to take full ownership of field performance, sales and production growth.

This is a hands-on role suited for a proactive and detail-oriented engineer. You will report directly to the top management and work closely with our operations team to oversee and manage all technical aspects of oil and gas production, operations and sales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead companywide production engineering, surveillance, and optimization.
• Design and execute workovers, recompletions, RTP programs, and P&A work.
• Supervise field personnel and support contractors.
• Monitor SWD and surface facilities for optimization
• Generate and track AFEs and lease operating statements.
• Support oil sales and transportation tracking with field staff
• Provide reserve reporting, regulatory compliance, and technical support.
• Assist in asset evaluations for potential acquisitions.
• Maintain daily production reporting and forecasting.
• Coordinate and approve overtime and scheduling with operations and transport managers.
• Occasionally travel to field locations for oversight and support
• Use WellStar for reporting and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required)
• 5–7 years of production engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of downhole operations and field optimization
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
• Familiarity with WellStar (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary: $175,000 / year (DOE)

This is a full-time position based at our Ventura office.
