Job Summary
The Production Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of printing within a high-volume production operations environment. This role manages Operations Supervisors across multiple shifts and ensures productivity, quality, client satisfaction, and associate engagement. The ideal candidate will translate strategic vision into day-to-day execution, drive operational excellence, and foster a culture that prioritizes both clients and associates. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies to improve Productivity, Efficiency, and Quality (PEQ) Manage departmental expenses including labor, commodities, and discretionary spending Create and maintain capacity plans to meet or exceed client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Establish, monitor, and revise department and individual KPIs Demonstrate technical expertise in print equipment, production technologies, and client product mix Maximize machine utilization and equipment uptime Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and team members through ongoing performance feedback Support talent development and succession planning Communicate and reinforce company values, vision, and quality policies Ensure operational excellence in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience 3–5 years of management experience in a fast-paced environment 1–2 years of experience in print/mail, production, or manufacturing operations Proven success driving KPIs, workflow improvements, and team performance Strong leadership presence with a proactive, self-starter mindset Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, file linking, charts/graphs) Flexibility to work non-standard hours during peak production or critical events
