Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Master Scheduler, the position holder is responsible for the creation and maintenance of production schedules which meet customer demands while optimizing resources. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure orders are fulfilled on time and within budget.

Major Responsibilities of Position

Customer Service

  • Support supply chain team (i.e. Materials Superintendent) in communicating shipping delays and constraints ensuring customer protection through implementation and control of robust and immediate corrective actions.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develops and maintains an effective production plan for the area of responsibility (Die Cast or Secondary operations) which will ensure customer order requests are successfully achieved while optimizing resources.
  • Analyzes demand and capacity to identify potential bottlenecks or issues which could impact plan attainment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (i.e. Tooling, Engineering, Production, Purchasing, etc.) to ensure planned resources are available when needed (i.e. materials, equipment, labor, etc.) to achieve the schedule.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust the production plan as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communicate status updates and potential issues to the Master Scheduler and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Documents key information, including downtime, peak production, inventory accuracy, and scheduling accuracy; and works with personnel to analyze and create enhanced functionality in manufacturing applications.

Problem Solving

  • Address internal production constraints, providing necessary guidance to allow teams to identify root cause and countermeasures so problems can be eradicated and prevented from reoccurrence.

Communication

  • Ensures accurate and precise communication of results and targets to shop floor teams, peers, and management team. Contributes with information to complete daily, weekly and monthly reporting to all interested parties such as management team, corporate office, and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to identify and implement opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties and tasks as required, including special projects as they arise.

Personal Competencies

  • Microsoft Office Professional with advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP / MRP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of production planning and scheduling processes
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Strong team ethic.
  • Fluency in English.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to talk and hear over 2/3 of the time.
  • Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.

Work Environment

  • Automotive manufacturing environment; salary office supporting role with a minimum of 40+ hours per week; however additional hours may be required (as approved) to ensure task accomplishment is expected.
  • Production environment: 10% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected.
  • Office environment: 90% of the time, busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment available.

Experience, Educational and Certification Requirements

Associates (or higher) degree in a supply chain or business discipline or Technical College diploma (CET or similar) or equivalent educational and work experience in a similar role - Essential

Bachelors degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or other related field - Desirable

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in production planning or related field - Essential

Experience with ERP systems (Plex preferred) and production scheduling software - Essential

Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) best practices - Essential

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,629.00 - $89,444.00 per year
