We are seeking a Production Planner who is responsible for managing the production plan/schedule. This position develops and executes operational production planning and inventory management with alignment from customer service, supply chain, procurement, product management and manufacturing. Overall, the Production Planner is responsible for capacity planning and generating a Master Production Schedule (MPS.)
Core Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes operational production planning and inventory management program with guidance from supply chain, product management and manufacturing. Includes rough cut capacity planning and finite scheduling for the manufacturing organization.
- Participates in operations planning meetings as the expert on the production plan/schedule, capacity, and campaign and sequencing issues. Advises supply chain, QC and Manufacturing on decisions to support the balance of supply and demand.
- Define demand plan for each brand/production line, base of the forecast, historical data, new product development to determine the target inventory for the finished goods products.
- Create and publish a production schedule per brand according to the business objectives, as well as maintain target inventories for the made-to-stock product combined with the shipping dates for the made-to-order products.
- Monitors and maintains operational work-in-process inventory levels.
- Monitors the raw material inventory to coordinate with the Sourcing department the needs for the schedule to utilize the warehouse space in a better way
- Manages production plan/schedule to achieve targeted finished goods levels, to help improve the OTIF for the division.
- Coordinates materials needs for packaging with the sourcing department
- Maintains operational inventories by managing inventory days on hand, policing obsolete, dormant and slow-moving stock, and developing feedback reports to be given to the appropriate person for resolution.
- Serves as primary communication link between customer service, product management, supply chain, to provide update and accurate information on the production dates for order.
- Serves as expert resource for Manufacturing as it relates to the use of scheduling systems. Continuously improves the planning and scheduling process through problem identification, recommendations, and implementation of systems improvements.
- Tracks and communicates key supply chain issues with raw material and intermediate inventory levels. Leads weekly review process with manufacturing to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronic manufacturing preferred
- Working knowledge in Demand planning, Production Scheduling, Material Flow, Inventory Control
- 4 year business, accounting or engineering degree preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook. Strong written, verbal and collaborative communication skills.
- Advance Excel skills, data management, import/exporting, reference formulas and Pivot table
Other Competencies:
- Proficient in the use of an ERP system, Epicor preferred.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, manage priorities and work independently as well as on a team.
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and willing to take initiative with focus on the key initiatives and opportunities for improvement and growth.
