Production & Planning Engineer – Sheet Metal Industry

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Production & Planning Engineer to join our manufacturing team focused on sheet metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will be responsible for production planning, process optimization, material planning, and workflow coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective production of sheet metal components.

Key Responsibilities:Production Planning:

• Develop and implement production plans and schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and production departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor production status and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Process Optimization:

• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes for laser cutting, CNC punching, bending, welding, grinding, and assembly of sheet metal parts.
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and monitor KPIs such as cycle time, throughput, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Material & Inventory Management:

• Prepare material requirement plans (MRP) and coordinate with the purchase team for timely procurement.
• Ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials, consumables, and finished goods.

Coordination & Communication:

• Liaise with design/engineering teams to review drawings and BOMs before releasing them to production.
• Interface with QA/QC departments to ensure all products meet quality standards.
• Communicate with vendors and contractors as needed.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of production data, material usage, and process changes.
• Generate daily/weekly/monthly production reports and highlight any deviations from plans.
• Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in production planning and engineering, preferably in sheet metal fabrication or related manufacturing industries.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, and production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes, material behavior, fabrication equipment, and manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and interpreting technical drawings (2D & 3D).
• Good understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001) and lean manufacturing concepts.
