Job Summary
We are hiring a capable, detail-oriented Production Scheduler to own the daily and weekly manufacturing schedule across our foundry, fabrication, and finishing operations. This is a high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of customer commitments, shop floor capacity, and materials readiness. You will work directly with the Production Manager, shop leads, sales, and purchasing to keep jobs moving cleanly from order entry to shipment.
This is not a senior or management position, but it is a consequential one. The right candidate brings 3 to 5 years of scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment and is ready to take ownership of a complex, variable-mix production floor.
Duties
- Build and maintain the master production schedule across all active jobs, balancing pour cycles, grinding, finishing, welding, and powder coating capacity.
- Translate customer orders and sales forecasts into concrete daily and weekly manufacturing plans.
- Coordinate with purchasing to align raw material (metal, sand, coatings) delivery to production windows; flag shortages early.
- Monitor shop floor progress against schedule; adjust work orders in real time when delays, quality holds, or capacity changes occur.
- Identify and communicate bottlenecks to the Production Manager and relevant shop leads before they affect delivery commitments.
- Maintain accurate data in the ERP system , open orders, work order status, inventory consumption, and job completion.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling reports; track on-time delivery and scheduling accuracy metrics.
- Collaborate with the sales team on lead time commitments for new orders and rush requests.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring scheduling inefficiencies and proposing solutions.
Required qualifications
- 3–5 years of production scheduling or production planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with ERP or MRP systems (experience with job shop platforms such as Fulcrum, Epicor, Global Shop Solutions, or SYSPRO is a strong advantage).
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for scheduling tools and reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, bills of materials (BOMs), and production routings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active jobs simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Clear, direct communicator, able to escalate issues quickly and keep cross-functional teams aligned.
- Analytical mindset: comfortable working with data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a custom, make-to-order (MTO) or job shop manufacturing environment.
- Background in metal fabrication, casting, foundry operations, or similar heavy-process manufacturing.
- APICS CPIM certification or equivalent supply chain / operations training.
- Familiarity with capacity planning frameworks and shop floor scheduling concepts (finite vs. infinite capacity, sequencing, constraint management).
What we offer
- Competitive salary of $55,000–$65,000 depending on experience.
- Full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Paid time off and observed holidays.
- A stable, independent company with a 50-year track record and a reputation for quality in some of the most recognized public spaces in the country.
- On-site role in our Tacoma facility, you will be close to the floor and integral to daily operations.
