Production Team Lead

Description:

The Team Lead supports daily production operations by providing floor leadership, technical guidance, and coordination for manufacturing operators. This role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while supporting standard work, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

The Team Lead serves as a working leader on the production floor, helping operators execute processes correctly, troubleshooting issues, and supporting communication between production, engineering, quality, and supply chain.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety and proper operating procedures within the department
  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of operators on the production floor
  • Ensure production schedules and priorities are executed efficiently
  • Support shift startup activities and ensure operators understand daily goals
  • Assist in resolving production issues and removing barriers to workflow
  • Report safety metrics and incidents to the Safety Committee
  • Train individuals to become on-the-job trainers, ensuring consistent and high-quality training
  • Continuously review and update standard work procedures to reflect best practices and operational changes
  • Conduct training, assists with new hire training, onboarding, and employee orientations
  • Investigate and troubleshoots potentially unsafe conditions, equipment repair needs, or other areas of concerns and offers resolution. Performs investigation and analysis of incidents such as near misses and quality impacts
  • Maintain and foster communication and strong teamwork within all departments
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of safety, quality, delivery, and cost/waste reduction through active cross-functional communication
  • Escalate and resolve bottlenecks proactively

  • Understands and adheres to job-related ISO 9001 & 14001 standards and policies.
  • Microsoft 365 proficiency

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate degree or technical certification preferred
  • 5-7 years manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal communication required.
  • Proficient ability in Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft 365 areas. Experience with inventory/ production management (SYSPRO ERP systems)
  • Ability to read shop manuals, build orders and product drawings, and apply information to accurately build products. Ability to safely and efficiently use basic shop tools such as portable power tools, tape measures, screwdrivers, and hammers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an Industrial warehouse environment with varying work levels and uneven surface areas.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs at times.
  • Normal auditory, visual acuity including depth perception and peripheral vision, ambulatory ability and dexterity
